This question is a follow up to an earler question. I ran my moms under ground sprinker for the first time this season. I noticed three things.1) the programs on the control panel were not working. the same couple of heads would keep running no matter which zone i set to run.
2) it appears that there were multiple zones running at once.
3) as a result of number 2, the pressure at the heads was poor.

I heard the i might need to adjust the control valves in some way?

Does what I am describing make sense and how do i fix it?

A buddy of mine told me the contractor who blew them out in the fall did this intentionally so he would have to come out for the opening so he could earn a fee

Thanks

What happens is, sometimes the contractor forgets to shut off the valves, and sometimes they do it intentionally. All 3 of your problems are connected to each other. You need to open up the valve box and make sure that the solenoid (the cylinder with 2 wires) is screwed down and that the manual bleeder ( a little thumb screw) is also tight. As for the timer it is usually unplugged for the winter. Make sure the settings are correct then make sure the valve are shut down, then everything should be OK.

I'm going to ignore your friends remark about the contractor and assume he winterized your system properly in order to answer this question. If the contractor did in fact sabotage the system, you are going to have to get somebody out there, but there are some things you can look at.
1. The zone valves have a screw that you need to adjust. They should have been locked open when the system was blown out. Once the zone valves have been set back to operational, that should take care of problems 1, 2, and 3.
2. If you can remove the sprinkler heads for cleaning, get all the dead grass and dirt out. Some of the pop-ups have a plastic screen in the riser so the nozzle doesn't get clogged.
3. Manually start each zone and observe the sprinkler operation.
Good luck and I hope I saved you a few bucks.
