I'm getting a motherboard that can support two PCIe SLI graphics cards both at 16X . I want some REAL power for gaming and graphics programs but don't want to spend heaps. Am I best off getting two cheaper cards (eg. Geforce 7600GT)or one expensive one ( eg. Geforce 8800GT)?
What do you gamers use?

Remember with two video cards you NEED to upgrade your power supply if it's off a stock.

Anyways i'd merge to Gforce 512mbs, Much smarter and you'll never use that much because vista, which i expect you are running or well be has a max set at 382mb for video cards. Atleast 32 bit does i believe.

Don't forget they do handal directx 10 as well just cheak into the card beofre you buy it

I use 1 7900GS KO i would get 2 of them if i could.(no SLI board)
The 8800GT isn't as good in DX9 games and a 7900GS.If you are going to be running high res than 2 cards would be best if you are not using high res.Than 1 card.Hope i helped.be sure if you get 1 card it has 512mb or higher. If 2 you could get away with 256mb but 512mb would still be best.

i would get a card in the 8000 series because it will support direct x 10 (with windows vista) and in the future you wouldn't be spending as much for upgrades.
I have a 6800 in my desk top for gaming and am in the process of building a Direct x 10 machine
