in some ways it is,espicially for the ministers.who sometimes get thier roles confused and think the people are worshipping them.but to ,me religion is a crutch for people to have someone or somehting to blame for thier problems.its even used ot promote hatred, after all god does not like a certain group who ware we not to feel the same way.

People have been known to wish people worshiped them instead of our Creator but all people are not like that. Consider the same examples that have nothing to do with the religions of this world and everything to do with personal sin. Consider parts of government (people) who say they are helping while demanding truth be hidden. Then consider all that have never been honest with those people for one agenda or another when they clearly know something wrong is going on. People who are on ego trips are always after some sort of pay-off and with an open mind you can spot various forms of this everywhere not just religion.
There are also people who will do anything and I mean ANYTHING to get rid of truth and this isn't linked to nasty behavior?

Aspects of it can be - like for the ministers who have hundreds of thousands of people who end up worshipping THEM instead of God. Ministers, rabbis, priests and all spiritual leaders are merely messengers and not the message. For most people, however, I do not believe religion is an ego trip but a way for people to make some sense of why we are here, what happens to us after we die, and how to live a better life. Anything can be abused, and religion can be used to ill-purposes, too. However, I believe in general, it is not.

Religion, at its very core, is not an ego trip. religion as of 21st century....well...its questionable at best. let me rephrase that, if anything it is not the religion that is egotistical, but rather the church and its entire congregation. see, church officials have power in the community and beyond, and as human beings, it is often hard for us to handle power in a reponsible manner. the belief in a god or gods is not in itself for the ego of the god(s) for the god is intangable, but it is rather for the greater good of oneself, and the furthering of oneself through a higher power.

Definitely not. I don't understand why you think it would be. As a Christian, my life is no easier than anyone elses....as a matter of fact it's a bit harder to try to live right and do the right thing in different situations. I am humbled by my God and my faith.
