I feel that Hip Hop is dead because there is no more using words to tell a life story or just use words for people to relate and have fun. What we're listening to now is rap, not hip hop. I do wish for hip hop to be reincarnated though.

Hip Hop is dying a slow, painful (to my ears) death.
Who killed it?
There are a lot of answers to that, and they all tie together.
1. Rappers themselves are doing their part to kill it by selling out and making bad music for the record labels. A lot of them just want to try to get rich, even though most rappers actually never get there. There aren't many more battle rappers left, or people with a message that doesn't set black people back. So the art of emceeing, is all but extinct. It takes no brains to talk about guns, hoes, and killing. You don't even have to rhyme or even make sense anymore as long as it 'sounds' cool.
For example: "I got two guns. One named Mac, and one named Nina, and when they hit you, you jump like you was doing the macerena." That's from a real song (Lil' Wayne, I THINK). And people think this is good!
2. The record companies mentioned in number one have been slowly sucking the life out of Hip Hop like a parasite for a long time. They glorify the worst things and market them to kids. They "know" what sells and try to influence the rappers to make it their way, and try to influence the market too.
Ever hear of 'payola'? It's the illegal practice of record companies to pay off radio stations to play a certain performer's music. That's why you keep hearing songs over and over on the radio and MTV/BET. The record labels are also the ones who tell rappers to go and rent out expensive cars, and jewelery for their videos. It doesn't matter if they will never be able to afford that stuff in real life because they just want to sell a front, an image.
3. And this is the most important one, because without this one, the first two just don't happen:
The kids who don't know better as well as adults who buy this stuff are all helping to kill Hip Hop. If nobody bought it, then guess what would happen? EXACTLY.
Just because people buy that stuff does not mean that it is good. People buy a lot of things just because of how they are marketed, not because of the actual PRODUCT. And it's their loss, because none of this sold out, clubmusic, crunk garbage, ho smackin', capbustin' bling-bling b/s will ever be able to compare to A Tribe Called Quest De La Soul, Arrested Development, or any of the true Hip Hop I grew up listening to. Lil' Wayne, Lil' Weebie, Young Jeezy, Yung Onez?!?!? Give me a break. What is even the difference between them???
Also, Hip Hop is dying from a lack of musical talent. Nobody knows how to play any instruments anymore, and I'm sorry but a 4 bar beat looped over and over again for 3 or 4 minutes is NOT music. A 5yr old with a Casio keyboard could make beats like that. They're even killing DJing.
I hope Hip Hop finds a way to reinvent itself, because right now 90% of it straight up sucks.

Definitely no.....its just evolving into something that many of the people, like myself, who love 80's and 90's hip hop can't get with. It just seems so immature and lazy now...nothing but beats and no lyrics. There are exceptions, but I guess I'm becoming old school.

i think mainstream rap is dead...or dying.its terrible. all the topics are the same;girls, cars, money, etc. its boring seeing the same style videos over and over.i'm tired of hearing the *n word in a song.the degrading of women is sickly.and its stupid.
underground and some other rappers are keepin it alive though. (Atmosphere,Common,Talib Kweli,Lupe FIasco,Mos Def etc)
