The end of the calendar period is said to be dec.21 2012.
It is the end of this "last" cycle dating from 3113bc till 2012ad. Is this a solid fact or just another religious end of the worl scare? Does this have anything to do with the 13 crystal skulls?

In order to have an extinction level event, you need to have an extinction level event mechanism. Given that we have not detected an ELE mechanism for this date that was visible to the ancients civilizations, I would say we are safe. Old civilizations did not have more answers than us. It is far more likely that they had a finite concept of time and needed to pick an end date that was so far into the future that they would not have to worry about it. Most end of the world predictions are fabricated by a priesthood motivated by self interest.

There are many probabilities. The Aztec Calender and the Chinese I Ching (calender of events) predict that the Earth will pass between the sun and the center of the Milky Way, where the gigantic black hole is. This happens every 26,800 years. The magnetic pull of the sun and the black hole could change the Earth's poles. Science has discovered this has happened at least once before. Where Alaska was once on the Equator. If it happens again, the Earth will have severe global catastrophes. These predictions have come from many other sources, including Revelations in the Bible.
December 21, 2012. According to science, the Earth will indeed be aligned with the Sun and the Black Hole that holds our Galaxy into place on that date. What will happen during that time is any body's guess.

Come on. What did Aztec knew that we don't?
13 crystal skulls? What is that? How can anything linked with the belief of a bronze age civilization be seen as knowledge that has an impact on the universe as a whole? Where would they have gotten that knowledge in the first place?

This end of the world in 2012 is just another scam from people eager to sell their garbage books to overly gullible readers.

Aztec belief??? All 2012 is, is the end of one of the Aztec calendars. It is modern new agers that have tried to tie all kinds of mystical baggage to the date. ( they center on 12/20/12). All 2012 is, is a 365 day long stretch between 2011 and 2013. Don't get your hopes up.

It was the Mayans and it's just another end of the world scare. They were so wise that they went extinct over a thousand years ago. Actually, I think the world ends at the end of Feb 2008. That's when my Barnes & Noble calendar with dogs runs out.

-Cough- Mayan belief -cough-

The only reason behind this is because the Mayan long count calendar reverts to all zeros on that date. I don't truly think it will happen, but it's fun to think about.
