yes, absolutely!

Barefoot gardening is an awesome feeling. It is a great way to get close to nature. Feeling the different textures of the soil and rocks, the different temperatures of the soil, and the different amounts of moisture in the soil are all great things to experience.

Barefoot gardening means you don't get your shoes dirty or muddy. Barefoot gardening means you can make a quick dash to the garden to work for just a few minutes or to grab some fresh vegetables, herbs, or flowers without the hassle of putting on shoes or boots.

Barefoot gardening means you don't leave heavy shoe or boot imprints in the soil which translates to less soil compaction.

Where I live, the soil is very heavy and contains mostly clay. This means it takes a long time to dry out after heavy rains. When wearing shoes, it means you cannot walk in your garden for three or four days after heavy rains. This gives the weeds and insects a huge time advange -- they can prosper while you cannot get in there and take care of them. But, being barefoot, I can do garden work no matter how wet the soil is. I can even work in the garden while it is raining.

For me, being a barefoot gardener has made me a BETTER gardener because I can tend to things quicker after it rains. It means I don't leave heavy shoe imprints in the soil and it means I don't track muddy shoes into the house.

I like gardening in my bare feet, but it is not healthy for the feet.
Why ? You can get a cut or bite which could become infected.
If you kneel while gardening your toes are subject to getting something under your toenail hence infections that can cause
a lot of pain and Dr. bills. So at least wear some type of sock to be on the safe side. So enjoy your garden but do it safely

Yes, I always do my gardening barefoot. I've done everything from heavy digging to weeding, and clearing thorn brushes, and I can't remember ever getting a scratch or thorn in my feet. My hands get scratched up frequently, but my feet are a lot tougher.

I'm sure the cool dirt feels good to your feet but I'm too scared of stepping on a snake.
