I went to the hospital yesterday, thought my water broke, and it didn't. My midwife sent me home and just said any day now. I am worried because this morning I still have bloody liquid coming out of my vagina. Has anyone else experienced this or have a clue whats going on?

You might be losing your mucous plug. It does not always have to be thick and mucous like. Call your MW and let her know. Best of luck to you!

I believe that to be one of the labor symptoms...

"Early Signs of Labor - How to Recognize Labor Symptoms

This is the most dreaded period of time during a woman's pregnancy. Labor can be a very painful, yet rewarding time. For some women, labor can only last a few hours, while for others it can last more than 24. Below, you will find a list of what to look for. The following are early signs and symptoms that you might be in labor. Prepare, you are in labor and getting having a baby!....

Mucus Plug or Bloody Show

You will begin by experiencing the softening of the cervix. As this occurs, the cervix begins to dilate, and the mucus plug which has sealed the cervix throughout your pregnancy begins to dislodge. A bright red to brownish liquid may appear, and this is called bloody show. Although a show may infer that labor is imminent, it can also occur weeks before the labor actually begins. Therefore, this cannot be the only sign and symptom that labor is to come....

Vaginal Discharge

Don't be surprised if you notice an increase in vaginal secretions. As the softening of your cervix occurs, white, and sometimes pink discharge may be seen. This is one of the more uncomfortable early signs of labor. A yellow or frothy discharge might indicate that an infection is present. If the softening of the cervix occurs, and you notice this discoloration, notify your doctor."

Sounds like you are dialating. Which is good. Better to progress at home than in the hospital because you'll only be in bed on your back most of the time there. 40 weeks? Wow. that will be one big baby hopefully! I'm surprised the dr. let you go till then. Why a midwife? You'll need the epidural for a 40 week baby. Good luck.

See your midwife again. It may be a 'show' this means baby is on the way.
Midwives and Doctors are there to take care of you. Dont let them fobb you off and send you home if you are not happy. Call again of pop in to the hospital and ask to be checked over. Your health and your babys health is ythe most important thing. Dont worry about them being cross with you. If you think something is not right you should call them out again.
Good luck.

When I went into labour with my last 2 babies, I had blood come out as a first sign of labour. If your midwife wasn't too worried about it and said you are close..then this is what is happening. Best of luck with your impending birth!

You could be dilating. Did they check to see if you are? Are you having any cramping?? If not, then if you start getting some timable pains, then you need to call them again. I done that with my first baby, and I ended up in labor the next day. Good luck, and congratulations on the baby.!!
