No. Because there are serious complications that can happen if you are induced.
It is safer to let nature take its course. After a week or so, depending on the babies vital signs and the pregnancy, the doctor may be more inclined to induce labor.

Sometimes induction does not work. I was having some medical problems not related to the baby when I was 37 weeks and they tried to induce me and i stayed in the hospital for 3 days and only dilated 0.5 cm and still have not delivered. I am due today and have an appt in 1 hr to see an ultrasound tech to make sure there are enough fluids and baby is not in distress. My drs are saying they are not gonna let me go a full week overdue and that if it starts looking that way they may do a c-section. Good luck and I am sorry about your friends loss. Sounds like there may have been something else going on w/ya friend and her pregnancy.

Unless you have a valid medical reason there wouldn't be a point of inducing. Are you seeing a doctor as well as a mid-wife? If so then consult your doctor. Was your friend seeing a doctor? Are you sure she lost the baby because it was overdue, it seems more likely that the baby was overdue because of an existing problem, but that's just guessing. I've never heard of a doctor letting a pregnancy going over long enough to endanger the baby.

I tend to agree that there must have been other complications as most doctors leave at least 10 days over before induction.
Induction is very painful and there is a higher case of emergency c-sections because of fetal or maternal distress.
I have had two inductions, one when I was 37 weeks (there was something wrong with my daughter and they needed to get her out early) and it was the most horrible labour, thankfully I had an epidural in the end.
My second I was induced at 38 weeks as my waters broke. It was a bit better labour but full on.
I would wait at least 7 days after your due date and in the meantime have lots of sex if you are able :) Its supposedly pretty good at bringing on labour

I was induced. My daughter was 10 days overdue when I went into labour. I ended up having to be induced because my labour went for 34 hours before I even got to 3cm. You'll want to wait for it to happen naturally. Contractions hurt more when your induced I have found. You and your baby will be fine. Stressing out is the last thing you'll want to do. Relax and enjoy your last days of being able to sleep whenever you like!
Congratulations on soon becoming a mother by the way! :)

doctors are supposed to wait ten days after the due date before inducing. this is in case the date are wrong. I am assuming your freinds baby was either incredbly overdue or there was another problem involved. If you can NEVER be induced, it is incredibly painful and most times a longer birth. If the baby is more than ten days over then consider it.

I was over a week overdue and my baby was just fine, as well as several friends of mine, I did finally ask my doctor and he agreed to induce me. I guess it just depends on your midwife, try not to worry so much though, everything will be fine and you will have your beautiful baby before you know it!

Look, you have to voice your concerns. What's with these midwives anyway? Are they doctors? There is no reason for babies to die at full term unless they aren't born in a hospital. You can go two weeks after your due date and dr.'s usually will induce. Take the drugs, don't be a martyr.

a physically powerful wellness care expert won't bring about purely on account which you have relatives coming in from out of city. maximum docs will wait until you're a week previous your due date to bring about until, needless to say, there are problems with the baby. on account which you probably did no longer locate out until later on your being pregnant, it is likewise accessible which you're no longer 40 weeks yet. Your physique and infant recognize purely right while it's time to return.
