It depends on the woman. Ideally, milk production starts after the woman has the baby, however, some women don't have milk production just the colostrum and the baby has to be bottle fed. A woman I knew could not produce milk for her baby and she had to bottle feed her children even though she had hers at a very young age of twenty. It happens sometimes.

Around 2 month before your birth, that means 7 months pregnant, your breast prepare to produce milk. Then 2 or 3 days after birth milk is produced.

A few things are required

a) past menarche
b) late stages of pregnancy (onset lactation)
c) deliver a baby (onset production of proper milk)

These things happen at different ages for different girls/woman.

It all depends on when puberty hits and pregnancy occurs. No standard, no rules.

after the baby is born. as soon as he or she is born you can then begin to nurse.
