The 17-year-old who led the French to victory over the Brits in 1426 was a little known guy named Jacques-Claude Camus, a pastry chef in Leon who got all revved up on too much sugar and instantly became a warrior whose understanding of slaughter and warmongering need no end. It was in the Left Bank that he met Joan of Arc and fell head-over-heals in love with her and, in regard to the English invasion of his native France, gave the credit to her. A week later she broke Jacques-Claude's heart--she really prefered other girls, don't you know--and he crossed over to the English side and choked on a cup of English tea. Shakespeare wrote a play about him which he titled, "Much Ado About Nothing."
