Yes it did.
The 1985 film Return to Oz is a motion picture arguably created as an unofficial sequel to The Wizard of Oz. It was made by Walt Disney Pictures, but has no approval by MGM, the company that made the classic 1939 film. However, no approval was necessary since all of the Oz Books were in the Public Domain. The film was directed by Walter Murch.
The movie's plot is a combination of L. Frank Baum's novels Ozma of Oz and The Marvelous Land of Oz, which were written as sequels to the novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Yeah, If you're curious about Wizard of Oz having a sequel, then I reccomend watching Return to Oz at least once. Just be prepared.. the tone is completely different.. I like to put it this way
when the wrote the script for "Wizard of Oz" they were high and happy on weed.
When they wrote the script for "return to OZ" They were having a BAD acid trip..
That's the impression you get. It's good enough to be worth seeing at least once, though. It's much weirder and frieakier. I like the little girl who plays dorothy in it. I mean, Judy Garland was a great actress, I'm sure, but the little girl in Return to Oz looks MUCH more the right age (11, not 3O pretending to be 14!!)
Anyway, it's worth watching just for the scene of a whole room with glass display cabinets containing women's heads, which wake up and screaming!! LOL
Also, a Chicken as a pet/travel companion is just MUCH cooler than the stereotypical little dog.

Yes. It is called Return to Oz. It carries on the story after Dorothy went home. Her family believe that she must be crazy as she continues to talk about her friends from Oz, so they send her to a mental hospital to have electro-shock therapy. There is a big storm and she runs away from the hospital, and ends up back in Oz. However, it has changed dramatically since she was there last and her friends have all been held captives of the Gnome King. Dorothy has to save them. Throw in Tick-tock, the robot army of Oz, Jack the pumpkin head guy and the gump, a chair with a gump's head and you have a pretty good story. There are also wheelers, talking rocks, and the witch who changes her head to suit her mood, just to add to the fear of children! It is brilliant!!

Notinkansas is right. Return to Oz. Awful. Just awful.
Wikipedia calls it an "unofficial" sequel. I call it a waste of film.

There have been several adaptations of the stories- cartoons and films. Return to Oz is terrific. It is based on the books more than the Judy Garland movie, and is different in tone. It's not a musical.

Yes, Frank Baum several additional Oz books, but I don't remember the titles.
Wikipedia states that Baum wrote 13 Oz books.

...well, you didn't exactly denoted the word 'sequel' necessarily as a motion picture, nor did you know whether or not you were talking about the any production, based upon follow-up tales of the original story, so I would have to say that there were several follow-ups to the original 1939 musical; the more prominant ones include:
1). "His Majesty, the Scarecrow of Oz" (1914)
a silent film, based upon L. Frank Baum's follow-up novels, "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" and "The Scarecrow of Oz".
2). "The Land of Oz" (1932)
based in part by both "The Scarecrow of Oz", and it's follow-up, "The Land of Oz"
3). "The Lion of Oz"
a Canadian production, and more of an unauthorized prequel, than a sequel.
4). "The Patchwork Girl of Oz" (1914)
another silent rendition, and one of Baum's follow-up books to the original story.
5). "Ozma of Oz", "The Marvelous Land of Oz", and "The Emerald City of Oz" (1987)
three animated follow-up feature films to the original story, spliced and edited together from a Japanese children's T.V. series...very closely spirited to the stories they are based upon ("Ozma of Oz", "Land of Oz" and "Emerald City of Oz")
6). "The Wonderful Land of Oz" (1969)
based upon the story, "The Land of Oz", and although denoted as a motion picture, this one plays more like an embarassing and laughable stage production....Baum would be outright embarassed, himself!!!
7). "Dorothy and the Scarcrow in Oz", and "The Land of Oz" (1910)
two additional silent productions, and very loosely based upon the novels from which they were derived from ("Dorothy...was a bridge from "Wonderful..." to "Dorothy...", and "Land...was directly based on the novel of the same name)
8). "Return to Oz"
an animated 'what-if' follow-up to the original classic story
...and as previously mentioned,
9). "Return to Oz" (1985)
with elements and characters culled from the original story, this Disney-produced sequel is directed based upon Baum's novel, "The Land of Oz"
...in addition, there were dozens of smaller productions, based upon L. Frank Baum's follow-up novels, as well as an equal number of productions based upon the original story itself.
...some of these interpretations and follow-ups are quote interesting to watch.....but the original musical, starring Judy Garland, is still the best!!!

Not that I'm aware of and I hope they don't. That is such a Classic and I think they should leave it alone. I wish they would bring it out on DVD again, though, like they did for so many of Disney's Classics, such as Snow White, etc., so the children would be inclined to see it. I have it here at the house but my grandsons aren't at all interested. I keep hoping someday they will sit and watch it with me.
