You really can't tell. I have known some men who don't dress flamboyantly, and you would think that they are poor or average joes, but in reality they are quite affluent. Most wealthy people that I know are not very flashy about possessions. Then again, I have been around guys whos drive beautiful cars, but they aren't financially secure. So, in essence you really can't tell unless you really get to know them.

You can't honestly tell a rich man from a poor man it is all in how one carries himself!
If you see a well dressed man who is distinguished and well spoken do you automatically assume hes rich?

Arich man would pass by a beggar without giving any thing , where as a poor man when he sees a beggar would generally feel for him and give him what ever he can within his means . Its not the clothes that makes a rich man but his attitude and behaviour towards his fellow beings.

Offhand, many people would suggest looking at their look, clothes, purchases, house, etc. but you'd be surprised how many millionaires dress and act like your common Joe and how many others pay beyond their means to look classy.
If I really need to know, I just casually get to know them or tactfully ask around.
What I found, initially, is that those who are decently well off are especially guarded about what they reveal about themselves, possibly because they fear gold-diggers and sponges. It's not that they're not friendly or nice, caring people, they're just more discreet and not prone to just inviting you over to their place straight off or something.
