Well we definately need more people in the world like yourself hun... Concerned and caring. I think maybe you should go wih what your heart tells you to do. You have to think of the consequences of what will happen if you do tell some-one and what will happen if you dont tell anybody. I personally would tell some-one maybe my parents first so then they could give me there advice on what to do. Whatever you decide will be for the best i hope things get better for yourself and your friend and his brother.

Someone should call the police on this father. Since your friend is 18 there is nothing cps can do for him and since the younger brother is nearly 18 they will probably get more results from involving police vs cps.

You must report this to the Child protective services or whatever it is called in Australia.A young boy's safety is at risk .Your friend is probably feeling guilty because it is happening to his brother but feels too overwhelmed to know what to do.Maybe he thinks the authorities will not believe him. They will not reveal their source and will be discreet. As a friend you must take action.Your must have heard the saying "evil flourishes when good men refuse to do anything"

There are laws here, and whilst it is a risky situation to go to the police, that may be the best option.
An alternative would be to contact the Citizen Advice Bureau

I too had an abusive father & after my sister & I ran away
from home at age 16, he was less abusive. But we got
the police involved & reported his abuse & we were
ordered to go to a therapist. We did & it helped some.
Your friend needs to do something since his brother is
at risk of being harmed. Tell him to try to get help, what
about his Mom, doesn't she do anything? Maybe he can
find an adult(teacher) to get help. Good luck.

Tell him to call the authorities. He's too young to have to worry about his brother's safety & his brother is too young to protect himself. His brother can emansipate himself, (declare himself legally responsible for himself) & get out. This father needs to go to jail. It's unfair that your friend has to worry about his little brother. He should be enjoying his own life right now. Call some one before it's too late for this child.

Oh my god... u need to find them some help! That father is unstable and social services need to take them away from that abusive a**hole. Hopefully, someone could take them in until they are 18. But no kid deserves to be beat by their dad.

Call CPS yourself and report this bozo. You can be anonymous if you are worried about consequences. If you don't, these kinds of guys tend to get worse over time in their abuse, and he might hurt your friend's brother really bad or kill him. I'd rather know I did everything I could to stop him than have something like that hanging over my head tomorrow.

you and he both need to report the father to child protective services and the police. ask him why he is allowing his little brother to suffer the same thing when he has the ability to stop it if he won call.
