Colossians 2:18 says: "Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you. Such people also go into great detail about what they have seen, and their unspiritual minds puff them up with idle notions."
This means that people can tend to identify with what they see, rather than their own internal perceptions of their health, physical and spiritual.
This is how to guard yourself spiritually. Ephesians 6:14-17
Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Hate is caused by fear. People are afraid to accept differences so they show it with hate. They want to feel superior to others so they find something to pick on or make fun of because they are actually afraid of being inferior.

Beats me. I was called weird by a kid on the street dressed in black spandex, showing off her skinny paler than white anorexic torso. She also wore baggy red shorts and had a bad black wig (what appeared to be) on her head. She wore those 60s' style glasses in black. I was weird for wearing a red hat on my head to avoid a sunburn.

its jealousy..
only people with major self image issues make fun of others because it gives them an ego boost ..when they hurt others it makes them forget about their horrible flaws..
