"Look to Mars for the truth on global warming"
(Link courtesy of RLP)
"These parallel global warmings -- observed simultaneously on Mars and on Earth -- can only be a straightline consequence of the effect of the one same factor: a long-time change in solar irradiance."
"The sun's increased irradiance over the last century, not C02 emissions, is responsible for the global warming we're seeing, says the celebrated scientist, and this solar irradiance also explains the great volume of C02 emissions."

Carbon dioxide exists in the ocean in very large quantities. Increases temperatures are always followed by increases in CO2. NASA proved that to be a fact.

He also said this in that article.
"It is no secret that increased solar irradiance warms Earth's oceans, which then triggers the emission of large amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. So the common view that man's industrial activity is a deciding factor in global warming has emerged from a misinterpretation of cause and effect relations."
How exactly does a warm ocean release carbon dioxide?
That statement alone showed me that this scientist does not know what he is talking about. He may know plenty about Mars and the rest of outer space, but he obviously doesn't know much about how Earth's climate works.

This is a popular myth that is doing the rounds and is losely based on NASA reports but has been grossly distorted and exaggerated by some global warming skeptics. It would be a good idea to read the original NASA reports so you can put things into context. In short - there is evidence to suggest that the south polar ice cap is melting, there is also evidence to suggest the north polar ice cap is expanding. Therefore whatever warming is happening on Mars is only affecting parts of it. The probable reason for any warming on Mars are the global duststorms that sweep across the planet for days on end, such an event on earth (were it possible) would also lead to significant changes in our climate. Further, Mars is very, very different to our own planet thus making any comparisons very unreliable. It has no breathable atmosphere, is not largely vegetated, isn't predominantly water, experiences extreme temperature changes, is so cold that the ice caps aren't frozen water but frozen gas (carbon dioxide) and it's not inhabited by humans. It would be a very conveneint solution to say that the Sun is to blame for warming on Mars and on Earth, if that were the case then the other planets and moons in our solar system would also be warming - they're not. There's 172 of them all told and on 165 of them no warming has been observed. We have extremely accurate instruments for measuring changes in the output from the sun and we know that the difrerence between the highest and lowest outputs (insolation maxima and insolation minima) is very small - enough to cause global warming or cooling over thousands and millions of years but nowhere near enough to bring about the changes we've witnessed in the last few decades. The actual difference between maximum and minimum output is a variation of a little less than one thousandth (a variation of 1.3 Watts per square metre per year against a mean of 1366 W/m2/yr). Again, please refer to the original NASA reports, the skeptics are trying to fool you by concealing facts and distorting others.

Global warming has become a religious cult instead of science, just don't drink the yummy looking kool-aid. The planet is warming, but as you stated, so is much of the solar system.
On a side note, CO2 plays a very small role in the temp of a planetary body. Water vapor plays a larger role. Furthermore, new evidence suggests that CO2 does not cause warming, but instead, increased temps causes an accumulation of CO2 in the atmosphere. Gore's so-called consensus is a bunch of mahooey.

Its the same reason that temps are rising on Venus. If they could only keep those damn Martians from buying and driving those SUV's they could solve this problem. Has anyone thought about sending them a copy of Al Gore's "An inconveinient Truth"?
It couldn't be that the Sun has anything to do with temperatures rising or falling. I mean it is the only source of heat and energy in the galaxy.

I'm sorry it took me so long to answer; I had to snag a sweater first to cut this chill. Speaking of sarcasm...
I'm just happy that we have warmed enough to melt all of that ice that once covered the earth. How did those SUVs, the ones that caused end of the ice age, get around millions of years ago, did they have those studded tires back then?
What we need to do is paint the earth white, which would reflect more light/heat and cool the entire planet. In addition, use more sunscreen; those dark tans do not reflect the heat as well.
Ever notice how a cool and comfortable room gets hot and uncomfortable when it is crowded with bodies generating 98 degrees each. We are each a little radiator. The more radiators, the more heat generated. So, are the population numbers up or down worldwide? In addition, could those oxygen consuming and carbon dioxide exhaling trillions be causing a difference? I've got it... stop exhaling. That would dramatically decrease the carbon dioxide.
How much heat do cigarette, cigar, pot, and crack-smoking people generate? What are they lighting those things with? Doesn't it take fire to light them? So, how much cooler might it be if we didn't light billions of matches and lighters each day for our little nasty habits? Oh yea, it takes more oxygen to support the flame of each fire we light, and we give off more "bad" gasses.
I think it just might be humans causing the problem. If they were not here, generating the heat from their bodies, and breathing out those "bad" gasses, we wouldn't have a problem.

Warming on mars is man made, its the heat generated by the batteries on the rovers.
All kidding aside, while most everyone agrees (even scientists) that global warming is a natural event, what concerns them most is the rate of change, and the impact humans are having on determining that rate.

Ok, give this a try:
Place two ice cubes in two metal pans. Place one pan on the counter in your kitchen, and the other on a lit burner on the stove in your kitchen. Does the ice cube on the burner melt? Yes! Does the ice cube on the counter melt? Yes it does!
Now, by your messed up logic, we can conclude that the heat from the burner does NOT melt the ice, since the cube on the counter melts, but was not exposed to the burner.
Just because the sun is melting the ice caps on Mars, does not mean that humans are not also heating up the Earth faster than the sun alone.
Next time try thinking a little harder....

Got to love it! All the self proclaimed experts coming out trying to justify just why a “carbon tax” will fix things up just fine! I mean if you actually think our co2 emissions are the cause we must have a carbon tax right? Please try to explain to me just how a carbon tax will cool the sun! This whole scam/big lie is to get this tax in so the UN can have the money they need to become the worlds government/police force arm of the new world order. I mean you didn’t think we have any control over them did you? This control implementation is what it is all about!
I don’t want you to think I am all for pollution, that is a totally separate issue and must be addressed. Our drinking water is not fit to drink without filtering and our air with large amounts of DU in it from the war is equally bad, check the cancer stistics. Will any of the current plans for a carbon tax help any of these problems? Not likely! All they want is for us to be good little sheeple and obey! Just be good little slaves to the state or enjoy one of their concentration camps.

So your telling me that humans have been recording temperatures on Mars as long has they have been recording temperatures here on Earth? When do you think instruments were viable to record such findings on the distant planet Mars? Have scientist drilled at the caps on Mars as they have here on Earth?
..... It's called reason. Try using it once in a while.
Your telling me with all that junk we are throwing into our atmosphere that it could not possibly be the cause of our global warming?
If you want scientific evidence look over my answers you will find a report I did a few semesters ago on Global Warming.
