NO!!!!! I learned that one personally. If you don't want to get pregnant again, use protection every time!

For some women it does, but you can't be sure. If you are a bigger woman it may not. Breastfeeding releases oxytocin, which is the hormone that causes labor and can stop ovulation in high enough doses, but you don't need so much oxytocin that it stops ovulation to breastfeed. In addition, you will ovulate two weeks before your first period so you could get pregnant and never have a period after the birth. I took a low dose birth control pill while I was breastfeeding (we are REALLY fertile people, we used condoms too). Talk with your Ob-Gyn at your 6-week or make an appointment if you have already had your 6-week, he/she can give you the best information on birth control and with a prescription, a lot of it would be paid for by insurance (sometimes even condoms etc). Hope that helps.

The answer is POSSIBLY.
Why this is is because it actually only PUTS OFF ovulation for a time.... this time is unknown. It's different for every woman. It may be for a cycle or for 2 years--it is IMPOSSIBLE to say. You CAN get pregnant while breastfeeding, so DO NOT use it as a form of contraception.

Definitely not. Breastfeeding in no way will stop you from getting pregnant. If you don't want to get pregnant again soon after you have your baby, use a condom or other type of birth control. :)

No, not really. I understand that breastfeeding suppresses ovulation so your courses are more infrequent, but they still happen. My grandmother had my uncle Jimmy and my dad exactly 10 months apart. When Jimmy was 2 weeks old, she got pregnant again.

I know a woman with an 11 mo old who is about to give birth again who thought that BF was adequate contraception so the answer is a definite NO!
It does mess up your cycle so that the rythm method doesn't work either. It may delay ovulation, but you can never tell!

this is controversial, you should get professional advice. But I understand that as long as you breastfeed regularly, you do not ovulate; in fact, you do not have your periods back unless your breastfeeding becomes irregular or interrupted. Therefore you cannot be pregnant. But you have to be careful,a s there has been cases of women getting pregnant while breastfeeding.

yes and no. it is supposed to as long as your baby is nursing exclusively. but you are also supposed to ovulate on day 14. of course that doesn't always hold true. allot of ppl use that as birth control but i wouldn't risk it.
