What does lying have to do with someones beliefs? This doesn't even make sense. Do you think we secretly have the same fear of being punished for eternity as you do? You might get away with asking this to agnostics...but I know there's no god, I'm not just saying because my parents indoctrinated their beliefs into me as a child, I know God doesn't exist...I don't get it, what would I have to lie about?

my thoughts (as an atheist who was raised religiously but does not believe anymore):
the possibility of a god and judgment day does not frighten me because
1) I firmly believe that i have sincerely tried to believe in god many times.
2) I believe I am incapable of faith as long as my brain thinks logically and values reason.
3) If there is a god, he's the one that made my brain operate as it does - unable to rationalize belief in him - so i think he'll understand.

There is no such thing as an athiest , because it is a refusal to believe in god , to deny a existence , you must first believe then refuse an existance of god

But yeah um, i'm not scared, i'm just curious, if there was i'd be like "oh cooL" i'm not a bad person, it's not my problem if God doesn't like me, he needs to chill the hell out of he'd Punish me for something he let me do in the first place......

Everything has a purpose.e.g when we look at cars and appreciate the way the body is design,the engine and everything around it, we praise the inventors.Nothing comes without a creator.Its the same with humans and everything around us

That will be many in the world.
And as a hint for the people who wrote some of the other answers,
God doesnot want us to believe in him.
Think of it like your parent sending you to school.
They dont want you to praise them at school...
They want you to learn...
