I don't know if this is a problem with HP printers, but with my Epson printer before, it wasn't possible to print regular black ink documents if the colored ink was empty. For some reason it just didn't allow it. I was wondering if HP printers are the same, specifically the HP Deskjet 2360.
Anyone?

Did you go into the "properties" in your print setup and click "print in greyscale"?

For the Hp Desk jet 2360 it would have to have both cartridges installed in order for it to print Black Text.It takes the Black #21( C9351AN / C9351A ) and color #22(C9352AN / C9352A).it won't print unless the printer reads that both cartridge are installed.

have you tried to clean the print heads? Have you run an alignment test? If everything prints but the black, and the cartridge is not empty, and you have not set some bizzare non-black configuration, either the print head is plugged, the connection between the cartridge and the print head is bad (pull it and replace it) or you have a hardware failure.
