i gave $500 for the little car to save it from the crusher pile because they didn't know it had glow plugs that had to be warm prior to spinning the motor over, it would not start so he said crush it boys, i ran in and payed his price 15 min later drove it home washed it and its the best old stye car i ever owned, now i'm wondering shouldn't something be worn down or about to break what is the life span of this car for a 1975 most cars would be dead by now, but it just keeps on going, am i missing something that should need replaced and if not why in the world can't all other car makers build diesel powered cars that last this long and that are built like tanks???

i still have a couple of 113 customers left, the axles were replaced last year on one. the other has deep cracks in the boots but are not yet split [it's an around town-er for an elderly person] so they will not be messed with until they actually go.
vacume pumps and brake boosters occasionally give up as well as the vacume door/trunk/fuel door lock servo's. that's about all that ever gave trouble on these cars.
NOTE: governor was oiled separately on these engines with its own fill cap
and for the last part of your question it is not in the best interest of the manufacturer to build a life time car [they only get to sell you one] if rust free this may last another 32 yrs..
good luck and have fun.

Because fuel industry sucks they are the best you cant beat a diesel for the long run check all fluids and grease it and put a jack under it and see how much play there is in all the wheels up and down and in and out it should be just fine.
