I'm 24 weeks and I am looking to find a breast pump that will have a large 'cone' (the part that goes over your nipples). My nipples aren't big around, but when they are hard the tips are big and I had a problem with the sensory bumps rubbing (raw- ouch!) really bad inside the cone, to where I stopped pumping my milk earlier than I wanted to and dried up too soon with my last baby.
I am a business owner and cannot BF 24/7...

I have the Medela Pump In Style Advanced. It is very comfortable, although I don't have anything to compare it to since I've never used anything else. A friend has told me that Avent is good too. I developed mastitis during my 8th week, and had a lump so I needed to get a bigger breastshield. At the Babies 'R' Us that I went to they only had the 27mm. The pump comes with 24mm. They also have a SoftFit breastshield as well, but I don't know how that is like. (It's $12.99 at babiesrus.com. Below is an excerpt from the Medela website. (They seem to be a trusted brand since all the hospitals use their pumps. It is pricier than most, but cheaper than Avent...depending on which one you get.)

Medela PersonalFit™ breastshields are available in four sizes: Standard (24 mm), which is the size in Medela's breastpump kits; Small (21 mm); Large (27 mm); and Extra Large (30 mm). Medela's breastpump kits make it easy to use a larger or smaller breastshield, because all sizes are designed to fit into the same connector on the collection kit. Many women appear to benefit from a size other than the standard 24 mm breastshield. In one study, many moms were fitted with either a Large or Extra Large breastshield within the first days after birth, and even more moms eventually used these larger sizes in order to pump comfortably and effectively.

Good luck!

If you're not feeding, you should be pumping, so it's not as easy as it sounds... that whole sleep through the night, and have dad give a bottle, it's more like dad gives the bottle while you pump. Or in my case, I gave the bottle and then pumped. If you still want to though, I would highly recommend the Medela Pump In Style. It cost me $250, and I've been using it for 9 months now (used it to pump exclusively for 3 months during a medical issue). That's really as cheap as you can get a GOOD double electric breast pump for. Anything else and you're really wasting your money, from my experience. The little $40 from Wal Mart or whatever is just crap. FOR ME, it may work for other moms, especially for short-term use. Just had to add that in there.

Medela has a variety of breast pump cones that you can choose from to fit. I have just the opposite problem, I have large breasts but small nipples and they get no stimulation from a regular pump and won't let down. I can't pump, only nurse. There are also (Avent I think) breast pumps that have a soft silicone insert that won't rub but move with the breast. Talk to the doctor, with a prescription most insurance companies will pay for one. The lactation consultants at the hospital can help you find one that will work too!

I also suggest the Medela pumps. They are very good quality and efficient pumps and they have a range of sizes to fit your needs.

I worked over 40 hours a week and was still able to exclusively breastfeed my son (via the bottle) because my Medela pump in style was fabulous!

You can pump 2 sides at once or my favorite feature was the battery pack. I could pump in the car while someone else was driving (on the way to work, stuck in traffic, or while we were out somewhere without an electrical outlet.)

Good luck!

i wouldn't suggest an electric one, i would suggest avent or chicco. been using it and it's very easy, and doesn't hurt at all.
