I've read a few articles and watched a show on the history channel that said the earth is going to be lined up ( with the sun and something else?) and that it only happens every 25,800 years. So nobody really knows whats going to happen?

The poles are gonna shift due to the lunar alignment of all the planets including their moons, and the gravitational pull will shift the poles to a new location.
This has already happened once, as "The Bermuda Triangle", and the "Dead Zone" in Siberia are exactly polar opposites on the globe.
These places were in place during the ice age, and there have even been found Palm trees in the ice.caps some will not survive like the dionaurs but some will so pray to God

If it happened 25,800 years ago and we're still here, what's to say we won't be here, i guess there's nothing to worry about. Every day ends and a new one starts.. It's just a different frame of time.

This close to X-mas there will be a massive traffic jam from the X-mas shoppers causing permanent grid lock! So the government decides to turn every road and intersection into one big parking lot from that point onward! And the Macy's day parade will be canceled! But there will be a gigantic sale none the less!

It has to do with the end of the mayan calendar, noobdy knows what will happen then. Hehe maybe the mayans realized their culture wouldn't last till 2012 so they just stopped it their, or it had a religious signifiganc eto them or they just got lazy and decided to stop.

There are some people who say the Earth will be 'wtfpwnt' in 2012...including the ancient Mayan calendar.
I don't buy it.
