First off, stop installing codecs from internet porn sites. Second, do you have any third party AV software you could use to clean it? You need to boot up into safe mode and remove the virus. I would suggest calling tech support for your new laptop and having them walk you through it.
Restart your laptop and during hte bootup sequence before you see the loading windows screen hit F8 and then select safemode. Use your antivirus software to clean it or hunt it down yourself and delete it. I don't use a resource hog like vista, so you will have to talk to someone that knows that operating system, but basically you have to locate and eliminate the virus, or just rebuild the system with a clean install of the OS, make sure you reformat though.

Hum... without more information about your system it's really hard to be very specific about what you should do.
Have you already tried to use a recovery cd. reinstall the OS? Have you tried to boot in safe mode and were you able to do this?
If you received a cd with your computer try putting that in the computer and when it starts select the recovery option or something like that.
Not all systems are set up to boot from a cd. you might need to hold down iether the F4, F5, (F8) Esc, or Delete key while the computer starts.
try also holding down the shift key while booting. that can, sometimes keep programs or services from loading at bootup.
Good luck to you.

Hi. Start the PC in safe mode by tapping the F8 key during boot. Run anti-virus software in safe mode (or download some and run it.) Should help. All else fails, try a 'System Restore' in safe mode. Good luck!

It looks like you have plenty of advice on the virus. In the future set your media players to NOT download codecs automatically, and get them from here:
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/QuickTime_Alternative.htm
I've used it for over a year with never a problem.
This site is spyware free, and recommended by CNET and PCMag.

Try taking the computer to best buy, or call geek squad. My experiences with computers is you can do more damage to them if you don't know what your doing. (Once I deleted important stuff on my computer and couldn't get it back.) Better of spending the money to get someone who knows what there doing, then messing it up further.
