The Simpsons haven't been funny since 2000. Matt Groening has done nothing but whip a dead horse since then, and now the Simpsons are only a hollow shell of what they once were.

It's not just you. It lost a lot of the power that it had in the first 8 seasons or so. It's become so lackluster, but is still one of the better cartoons in my opinion (compared to the likes of South Park and Family Guy, which have also taken horrible nosedives in quality).

If you get an old Simpsons DVD set and look up a classic (Monorail!) then watch a new episode, you can tell a huge difference

I noticed that with last years Halloween episode. I love The Simpsons but have found Family Guy getting most of my laughs now. But I will go see the movie!

they are still funny, but they are still the same ol simpsons. they cant compete with the newer shows like family guy and south park, cause they are not willing/able to push the boundries of right and wrong things to say on TV. thats why those shows are more funny than the simpsons these days.

No, I've been noticing it for awhile myself. As the Simpsons got more mainstream it seemed as though they no longer needed to be edgy anymore to get fans attention. That coupled with losing writers and creators to other shows over the years. I still watch it now and then, but my focus is more on Family Guy.

the classics are still the best of course but the new ones have been getting better than the past couple of years as they jigger with the formula a bit. Like todays episodes, while not that funny were interesting to watch.

They periodically jump the shark, then they amaze me by coming up with some good stuff. They're not as edgy as they used to be, however.

It stopped being funny (really funny) when Conan O'Brien stopped writing for it.
