Depends on what speed you require. On one hand, DDR2 is newer technology and can be more expensive. However, many times the older RAM becomes more rare, and therefore expensive. Research the cost differences on pricewatch.com or kingston.com.

from what the comp shops out here have been telling me unless you are building an all new system stay with the ddr1 no real gain unless you go to over ddr2 800 or something. the ddr2 800's are not that much faster than ddr 400. the ddr2 work faster but use larger sizes of data than ddr400 so it averages out. what typically makes the price difference is you need different proccesor socket than ddr so requires new cpu mobo along with the ram so it varies.

In the future DDR1 will be because memory manufacturers will produce fewer DDR1 modells, comparing to DDR2 and DDR3 which will be launched this year.
Now this isn't the case.

Doesn't matter, your motherboard uses DDR, (NOT DDR1) and cannot use DDR2, so you need DDR ram.

Hi. Your board http://www.intel.com/products/motherboard/d865gbf/index.htm only supports DDR, not DDR2.
