good question. i am also a teenager and i have done research on this very question. here is the cars that work best for you. These 5 cars are all sporty and have 4 cylinder engines to waste little gas (The tiburon may come with a 6 cylinder engine which will waste a lot of gas so check). I have no idea which car will cost more to insure. mitsubishi eclipse was not added to the list because you said for safety and if you get into an accident in this car, your fu*cked
Toyota Celica (2002 Toyota Celica http://images.autotrader.com/images/2007/3/28/219/462/1818081820.219462317.IM1.MAIN.565x421_A.562x421.jpg)

The celica is probably the most reliable of them all because of the toyota reliability. The hyundai is probably the least reliable. The intergra is the cheapest one of the 5. use autos.yahoo.com and check these 5 cars and see which one fits YOU best
the pics are how the car looks stock and how it will probably look if you buy it to add some realism
keep in mind these are all used cars because i do not recommend buying a new car for a teenager

the v6s a lot of potential for power, just like the v8s. and believe it or not, an 11 sec 1/4 mile v6 will typically be cheaper than an 11 sec v8 once you factor in cost of car AND cost of parts (the initial cost of a v8 is more expensive, and the mods are typically more expensive). however, you wont be hitting 11s in a v6 without forced induction. and a v8 will always sound better than a v6, which may influence your decision. if you plan to mod it, and you just want to do full bolt-ons, you wont be happy with a v6. with a full bolt-on v8, you still might want more, but youll be much more happier. since you dont have to pay for the initial cost of the car, i would go with a v8, that way youre spending less to get it faster. v8s are typically better or equal on gas (¡surprise!) if you drive it right, but insurance will be more. but you can get it insured under your dads name, and put you as a back-up driver, so its cheaper and youll be insured. and its not a bad first car at all, it just turns people into bad first drivers at times. if youre responsible, any car is a good first car. and mustangs are a lot faster than hummers...stock mustang gts can beat supercharged hummers. ive seen an 1996 gt with a cai (~215hp/290tq) put 10 cars on a supercharged hummer in a couple seconds.

If you are interested in buying a car, but feel as though you simply do not have the money, a government car auction might be the best opportunity for you. You can find incredible deals, and it is not uncommon for people to save thousands of dollars. whether you’re in the market for a new automobile or not.
You’ll find that, at a government seized auto auction, there is a huge variety of automobiles available for you to bid on. The majority of vehicles at a government car auction have been repossessed from criminals or people who have failed to make payments on government loans. There are also government car auction vehicles that are "retired" police cruisers or other government vehicles that are no longer in service. You can usually find a wide range of makes and models,
Not many people know about government seized auto auctions, so there will not be a lot of competition for vehicles that you’re bidding on. There are so many different vehicles to choose from, you’re bound to find one that will become someone’s next dream car. Whether you want to buy a car to re-sell, or you’re looking for a car for yourself or a child, a government seized auto auction is the best place to look for an affordable used vehicle. Why waste time with a double-talking car dealer when you can go to a government seized auto auction, where you can buy a car 90% off Retail Value?
Well,You can check out http://www.purchaseusedcar.info ,this site lists top 5 goverment car online auction sites for you to choose,It really is that easy.

Every car maker has the car you are describing. Here are some that come to mind:
Toyota Echo
Honda Civic
Ford Focus
Kia Spectra
Hyundai Accent
Chevy Cavalier
All good entry level cars. Cheap as used cars.
My Wife has the Echo. 160000 miles and still going strong. 40 mpg. Not the greatest looking car, but it gets the job done. It will be my Son's college car.
Good luck.
