I am currently running:
Pentium Centrino 2.80 GHz
504Mb of RAM (1-504Mb Card Out of 2-1024Mb Slots)
Microstar Neon Main Board
Intel Chipset 845G Family
Windows XP SP2

I am trying to update to make a half-decent gaming PC. I have already looked into Buying More RAM but i stumbles across bits and pieces of things and I am starting to think i should just scrap it and buy a bone system off of e-bay or something and just plug my hard drve back in.

Basically i need some of you computer saavy guys out there to tell me your analysis of this and what i really need to do.

No one say go to Crucual.com all it does is tell me to buy more ram so ya.....

Thanks Alot you Guys!

Yes, more memory and a good Video card will speed things up considerably and give you the most bang for your buck. The folks at Tigerdirect will be able to help you especially since you know your motherboard. I would get 2 Gigs of memory. Best of luck to you.

More memory, my man does HELP! But you've got to have a decent video card, your 2.80 cpu will be trying to maintain Windows XP, and run games at the same time creating a "bottleneck", which slows things down, and could bring 'em to a halt. A decent video card has it's own processor, and ram, and will help relieve the cpu. 512MB's of ram is just not enough for today's games. Look at the end of the carton on most games. Requirements : 2.....GHz processor speed, 1 to 2G's of ram, and a graphics card that has 1 to 2G's of DDR3,(GGR3)

Hi. You do not mention a graphics card. This unloads the CPU and make gaming more fun. I'd look at that first.
