I have a 1G PC2100 SDRAM DDRin my computer right now and I wanted to add a 1G 2700 SDRAM DDR. How will this effect my computer? Also someone told me if I put the PC2700 in the 1st slot and the PC2100 in the 2nd slot, I should be running at the PC2700 speed. Is this true?

A computer is only as fast as its slowest component... depending on the motherboard it will probably only run at the speed of the 2100 no matter which slot you put it in...RAM can run at slower speeds than what it is designed to but not faster without some major tweaks and overheating

BIOS will always default memory speed to that of the slowest module no matter which slot you put them. If you really want to speed up your PC, consider selling your PC2100 and running 2x512 PC2700 on dual channel mode. Of course 2X1Gb on dual channel mode would be great.
