I would agree with going to crucial.com to find out your options, but the most important part is just to notice what type of RAM it uses. After you know that, you can order or buy that type of memory from another location, such as newegg.com or your local Best Buy; of course you could also buy it from crucial, just realize that they often are slightly more expensive than if you were to buy it somewhere else, however they guarantee it to work with your system.

However, I am somewhat concerned that you are wanting to do this since you said 504 MB rather than 512 MB. Memory and many other computer things are measured by 2 doubling (eg: 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048, etc.) and so I am assuming that your computer told you that it had 504 meaning that 8 MB of your actual 512 MB are allocated to the video card.

The following is based on assumption of why you may want the added memory.

8 MB on a video card is fine for surfing the web and typing documents with Windows XP, but if you are planning on needing the 1 GB (1024 MB) of memory for an upgrade to Vista or installing a fancy game, beware. You will need to go into your BIOS and try to increase the amount of memory going to your video card, and if it is 8 MB now, I doubt that it will go high enough for something like Vista or a fancy game with heavy demands.

Just remember that you have a video card with shared memory, meaning that it gets it memory by subtracting some from the systems memory.

That stated, I hope that I didn't pop your bubble. Good luck with the upgrade. And by the way, the upgrade will most likely cost around $45 (US).

Well, for one i believe it is logically impossible for you to have 504 mb of ram, you must have 512 mb...

Anyway, it would probably cost about $50...
You are looking for PC2 4200 ram.
here is a list of a buncha upgrades that would work for your pc:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=10004395&bop=And&Order=RATING

Another 1gb is only about $40

I wouldn't buy from dell despite what the poster above stated. Any ram meeting the dell specs (anything on that list) will work on the computer. Also, dell is extremely overpriced, for my ram upgrade, the dell version costed over 3 times as much as the one on newegg. So I got the one off of newegg and it worked great.

Hi. Go to www.crucial.com and run their memory adviser. It will tell you what options you have.
