x^2-6x+34=0
(6+-sqrt(36-136))/2
or 3+-5i

Could you clarify the problem . . . is it x^2 (-6x) . . . the 6x not being raised a power, or is everything raised? Because if everything is not raised, it's a quadratic formula equation and your answers would be 8 and -2.

x = [6 ± √(36 - 136)] / 2
x = [6 ± √(- 100)] / 2
x = [6 ± 10 i] / 2
x = [ 3 ± 5 i ] / 2
