You don't know how lucky you are, just like people who have no fear of public speaking don't know the agony they are avoiding. I don't know of any magic bullet for either fear. All I know to do is to gain confidence through practice. If someone has control of their emotions, I'd suggest they practice turning off the inner critic that is telling them they're messing up, the audience is bored, the girl is repelled, etc.

it seems like your best friend should be asking this question, but ahem, anyways, girls like it when guys talk to them (mostly) so just go and do it. There is no reason to be afraid! Most girls are nice. I suppose that some guys would have this problem depending on their environment.
Just go do it if you want to. I mean, like you said, whats the worst that could happen?

You are outgoing, friendly, engaging and confident. Do these qualities amaze your friend? Probably, because he does not have them--at least not yet. You also know that is not a matter of fearfulness. You can't teach these qualities--they are part of your character and define who you are.

Girls are sometimes afraid to talk to guys for the same reason.

i'm a girl who had experience w/guys so i would know. Ok. A lot of guys are very apprehensive when they ask girls out. They're like oh God, i can't do this, but they actually can, but its harder for them to ask girls out. Boys don't like being turned down.

it's because guys are mostly shy around girls just because they think they're attractive.

it's great that you can just go up to a girl, girls like the confidence in men =)
