The number one motivator in this case is that he's obviously getting something out of his lie or he wouldn't continue to do it. I figure it's to feel better about himself. Many people feel as though they are superior as long as they lie about some aspects of their life.
No matter what the reason, he is weird, huh?

Perhaps he's in an unhappy marriage, or perhaps he still has feelings for his ex. Or perhaps he's just simply a player and wants the best of both worlds. Whatever it is, be careful, because if it really was any of the former I imagine he would have been more honest, but it sounds like he has an interest that he doesnt want his wife knowing about.

Maybe because he is afraid the ex will go and want confrontation to his wife. Maybe he doesnt want the ex to go and try to be friends with the wife. Why would the ex want to know all this stuff anyways.

The big question is why should you care? He may be doing that so you wont hunt her down and cause him trouble in his marriage. If you checked her "work" and everything else, I would have to instinctively say, you are up to no good! Leave him alone. And his wife. It is none of your business!

Sounds like a guy I knew who would just lie for the fun of it. Told one person he took a train, and another he took a plane. Why? Especially knowing he might get found out. One person figures its a power trip, deceiving someone gives him power, he thinks...or his subconscious does. Its definitely better to keep your mouth shut than to lie!

get used to it, live with it.
all man lie....
I had a relationship w/ a guy who was married and said all these bad things about his wife...including that they wre just roommates in teh house and would never go anywhere together....I hired someone to watch him a friend of his and mine and it turned out he would be out with his wife all the time and he would call me even when his wife just left for 5 min to the bathroom etc...he would do the same thing with me when we were out I caught him once with his phone he was txting and calling his wife in the bathroom,,,saying the game is almost over honey my friends are ready to live i'll be home in about one hour,,,love you etc....Unbelievable but there are psychos like him out there....I guess it has to do something with low selfesteem....or just degradeding the other person adn having a satisfaction...it's like double orgasm i suppose.
I truly believe he did that just for fun...
