My twin sister's husband is so mentally slow that he can't even spell his own name, but he's smart enough to know how to drive a stick shift. He's a jerk & he leeches off of her Veteran's Benefits & pumps her up with many kids so he can get more money, & he also beats on her.
I have a college degree & can't even drive a stick. Driving a stick is a technical & difficult task. I'm very interested in learning how to drive one.

It doesn't sound like he is really mentally retarded, just not likeable. In any case it is possible to have a great deal of practical intelligence without being an intellectual.
As for learning to drive a stick shift, it is really not that technical or difficult, just a question of getting the hang of it. Get some driving lessons, preferably from someone outside the family. Professionals can teach you a lot of tricks to make it easier.

I have a friend who is married to a fellow who was in remedial academics in school. The man never finished school. He never learned to read, but DANG, could he fix a car. He was so mechanically inclined that he just seemd to know, innately, what went where. he never read a manual, he just did it.
On the other side of things, I can drive a three in the tree and four on the floor. It took my father a long time to teach me, so find someone who is patient and as you go along, it gets easier. After a while it gets to be second nature. So much so, in fact, that you keep feeling around with your left foot for the clutch when you are in an automatic.
I know you feel like you should be quicker at this, but hey, let him have this one. Apparently that is all this sap has going for him and his wife should be able to say ONE good thing about him.

Mental retardants may be seen in degrees of illness. Some are worse than others as you know. Give this kid a break though he shouldn't be called retarded, that is against our society and culture. Try and talk to your sister about his leeching off her, if that is what he is doing. Remember it's not the children's fault for being born. God be with you. You should get down on your hands and knees and thank God it is not you.

i can't help you with your jerk problem but i can give you some tips on driving stick. first of all easy does it ok everything is feather touch. like its a living thing. gentle on the clutch the shifter the gas pedal slow-smooth and deliberate movements. also give it more gas, go just to the point where you think you are giving it too much gas, and then go a little further, then easy up on the clutch. and as far as women not being able to drive stick, ive seen lots of them driving semi's and that not easy.

Evidently he is not as mentally retarded as people think. Maybe he is "retarded" in some ways and in some not so "slow". There is still no cause for him to abuse your sister. Concentrate on assisting her in her attempt to better her life. Have you talked to her and found out how she feels about the situation? May GOD bless you and your family.

he can not be that mentally retarded if he is that devious. he might not be as intellegent book wise but he sure knows how to get his way and use your sister. you need to relax. not compare yourself to any one. focus on driving a standrad and you will be able to do it, believe in yourself. remember knocking some one else will never help you do something. you can only do something with practice. good luck

I'm sorry all you ladies out there, but you just do not have the stick-shift gene. When automatic transmissions were invented, women flocked in droves to car dealerships.
