We are looking for a nice family hotel to stay at near the VIA train station in Vancouver. Preferably something with an indoor pool.

Nothing realy close. cross the street take the Skytrain to metrotown Hilton and Holiday Inn . or take a cab to the holiday inn on Broadway several others downtown,, check thse web sites hellobc tourismvancouver, The area around the train station is not nice ..I love vancouver but like any big city . we have some bad spots..

Just wanted to second what GrandPa said, so that you will know it isn;t just his opinion, but he is telling the sad truth. There is no where around the train station you want to stay, and you don't even want to hang around the area too much, take skytrain as suggested, or take a taxi to a hotel you already have reservations at.

Runnymede Hotel in Surrey, 10 mins from train station. Its 5 star so will cost around 100/night.

Having lived there for 10 years, I have to say that it is not the best area of the city...lots of transients and on terminal ave you have the squeegie kids, unless they got rid of them. lots of homeless people hanging out. Skytrain is right there though and there are lots of cabs so just stay away from the East side of Vancouver.

I'd suggest taxiing your family to the YWCA hotel, as it has several room arrangements at good prices:
