Generally they prefer to feed at night, so that might be part of the problem if you are feeding only with the lights on. Also, they prefer to feed directly from the bottom of the tank, so if you have floating foods those could be a problem too. I would suggest you grab some sinking pellets or wafers for him. They need a fairly meaty diet so get stuff for carnivores or that have lots of meat in it. Try feeding those just before you turn the light off for the night and sit back away from the tank. Odds are good you will catch him coming out to eat then.

I have had 2 red tale sharks for 2 years now, they eat mostly at night. I feed algae disks, brine shrimp, blood worms and flakes. My guys are over 6inches now and very healthy also bright in color! They are also bottom feeders, but will come up once in a while to eat. Hope this helps.

He will graze on algae occasionally, however, for the most part they are happy enough sweeping the bottom for scraps left over, you will find eventually when he's found his self confidence he'll be bullying his way to your fingers.

anyone noticed how aggresive they are towards red fish, even more so than fish that compete for the same space as himself.

theyre mostly night eaters and they eat mostly off the bottom. if you have a tank with two lights, make sure you turn one off at night to get them eating and to produce good bacteria. alternate the lights every other night for which one will be off. the darker it is the better theyll eat.
