Do you think that a person should have complete control over themselves and what happens to their body & mind?

I guess what I am asking is do we have a choice as to what we want to do with our bodies? Should we have ultimate control of what we do to ourselves?

Yes, I think thats what "freedom" means, and this country supposedly stands for freedom.

Yes, IF they also have complete control of their own mind. Someone who is incapacitated mentally is not in a condition to make certain decisions. For instance, a person who is contemplating suicide due to depression should not be allowed to terminate their lives because of it. It can be considered a desperate act in a crisis. What they need is for others to stop them. On the other hand, an adult with a sound mind has the right to have a drink in a bar, or have sex with whomever they choose, in whatever manner they choose.

I don't think you can make a blank statement without qualification.

Jesus said to be perfect as your Father in Heaven is perfect,
Do you really think you can be and that he really expects anyone to be perfect. No he was saying to work on it and try hard to have control of every thought word and deed. These are recorded in the book of records, your book and you will review your book when you pass over. It is really a test to have control of yourself. Many people don't even try unless it is something in it for them. Remember , you are the captain of your own ship. Control yours and not other people's ship.

Yes, I think a person must have control over themselves otherwise they can be a menace to the society. Example, just be tolerant of others even you don't like them.A sound mind is a sound body.
