Ignoring them by funneling all the tax payer's money to the military-industrial complex via the Pentagon.

We send billions a year as 'grants' and 'foreign aid' to Israel and they have free universal socialized healthcare!! We???

Oh my gosh, they get more perks than just poor income
people. There are many soup kitchens, Habitat builds
them houses, churches hands out free groceries, places
open up in the winter so they can come in where it's warm,
I see people sleeping in the public library and no one bothers
them, and the government has so many programs for the
needy, I can't name them all. You know, some people want
to live that way because in our area, we had a group of
people who found them in doorways and under bridges and
asked them if they could help them find food and shelter and
they said "no, this is their way of life". So, sometimes even
local citizens cannot do anything for some of them, much less
the government give more hand-outs. A lot of the homeless
are definitely drugo's and alcoholics. Wonder where they
get money for those things? Break=ins?

In California our Governor Schwarzeneger has decided to cut funding for both the poor and the disabled and divert the funding toward building more PRISONS.

The clear message seems to be-poverty is a crime. This is reenforced by urban Police Departments who hear complaints from businesses about "quality of life issues." (homeless panhandlers)

The better question is what are homeless people doing to help themselves?

There are NUMEROUS gov't programs to help the homeless get on their feet and back into some resemblence of American life. But some choose not to take this route, opting for life on the streets and dinners out of trash cans. So be it.

I for one don't give money to beggars. It only encourages them.

Absolutely nothing. It will be this way until someone decides that the homeless are people too. Right now, this administration is trying to "gather" as much money as they can because no one is going to stop them. How can you stop thieves and crooks when those that "put away" criminals are more crooked and dishonest than the people they are "putting away"?

Where in the Constitution does it stay that we must take care of houseless people?

My concern is what are our private citizen doing. I volunteer at two shelters. Local churches provide 90% of the labor and 25% of the budget of these shelters. We donate millions to Africa and other poverty stricken areas yet ignore our own countrymen. It is up to us to help these people.

You show concern for these people but ask yourself, if you really cared wouldn't you donate time or money to help the cause. When was the last time you stepped foot in a shelter? Do you even know where one is?

Unfortunately, W is more interested in ways to accommodate the illegals than he is with taking care of citizens. How much press do homeless peeps get compared to wetbacks? NONE...which is also the answer to your question.
