Do you think John Sweeny provided a fair and balanced report?

I think Sweeney reported as well as he could without much help from the Scientologists (though OF COURSE they will completely deny that they were less than cooperative). I don't condone his "overreaction" at the end of the program, but I really can't blame him for getting worked up and I think calling for his resignation or termination is an overreaction in itself.

When I say "I can't blame him", I say this because the representative Scientologist he'd been dealing with all week had been nothing but rude, pompous, inconsiderate and in at least one case, intrusive.

When I say "intrusive", what I'm talking about of course is the incident when Sweeney was interviewing a critic of Scientology and the Scientologist burst in unannounced and uninvited in order to launch a nasty personal attack against the critic, calling him a criminal and pervert.

While I think the program was fairly accurate and ATTEMPTED to report on both the pro and con, I don't think it was as thorough and informative as it could have been. I recently watched an A&E "Investigative Report" program on Scientology. It was longer and covered a lot more ground than Panorama did. I don't think any documentary on a controversial topic, with so much at stake for the final answer, can ever be called "fair and balanced" by both sides.
