would the cicadas that are supposed to come out by June die or lower their numbers if temp were to freeze?

they wait until the temp is warm for a good amount of time but if the temp dropped to below zero after they begin to come out would it kill them or do anything at all?

Possibly most of them would die. But, since they have been doing this for millions of years, this must have happened many times. Enough of them have survived to carry on until next time.
