AVACADOES COME FROM TREES?!?!?!?!

2007-05-20 16:01:58 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 0 2

Avocados trees take 10 years to mature, with the first crop being fairly small and building up over time.

Of course there are a variety of avocados so the exact time frame will depend on the variety that you plant (or have planted).

While tropical fruit bearing trees like avocados and mangos can grow in sub tropical environments they tend to bear less fruit and take longer to fruit, so bear that in mind.

Growth Habit: The avocado is a dense, evergreen tree, shedding many leaves in early spring. It is fast growing and can with age reach 80 feet, although usually less, and generally branches to form a broad tree. Some cultivars are columnar, others selected for nearly prostrate form. One cultivar makes a good espalier. Growth is in frequent flushes during warm weather in southern regions with only one long flush per year in cooler areas. Injury to branches causes a secretion of dulcitol, a white, powdery sugar, at scars. Roots are coarse and greedy and will raise pavement with age. Grafted plants normally produce fruit within one to two years compared to 8 - 20 years for seedlings.

It depends on variety of these avocados. If you water it and give it ferlizer once a month, it should produce fruit after one year. It also depends on the weather where you live and how old your tree is.
