my husband is 67 yrs. old & works full time. He will be layed off for 10 weeks. He also teaches 1 class a week in a college program. He will be doing this during the 10 weeks. How does this income affect any unemployment?

If on social security, I don't believe it is legal to work a full time job. YOu are only allowed to work so many hours a week, or your social security will be dropped. YOu might want to discuss this with a financial planner.

Yes, your husband can collect unemployment without affecting his Social Security. If he is returning to his same employer after the 10 weeks then he may even be exempt from looking for work while he is getting unemployment. I do believe any money he does make during the time will affect his unemployment payment.

I am guessing he gets the Social Security based on age and not disability? If it is based on age and he has reached full retirement age, then he can earn whatever he wants. If he has not reached full retirement age, then his Social Security will be affected by earnings. If he gets Social Security based on disability, then the Social Security could also be affected by earnings.

UC benefits are lowered by the amt of any pension you may be receiving. It is possible that his ss may wipe out whatever he might otherwise be eligible for. But,do apply.
If you don't you won't get a dime, but you can always apply and probably you can do it on line. To apply costs you 2 minutes of time.

you will likely qualify for partial unemployment. utilising my state of long island as an occasion, they subtract what you're making at your modern job ($200 weekly) from the traditional unemployment payout.Your state probable has an internet site with greater advice which you will look into.

I was told last week by a SS person that two people can only make about $34,000.a year, including any retirement you are receiving. and draw SS. All must be taxed. If one makes more than that SS will be dropped and you will have to pay it back.

Collecting unemployment means you are available for work. Technically you can not go to school and be available for work.
