I am writing an essay of my own based on Jonathon Swifts "A Modest Proposal," in which he proposes ways to solve the problems of the abundant peasants having too many poor babies by using the impoverished babies as food, oil, and many other things. I want to write a modest proposal of my own, what are some ideas I can use for my own modest proposal, a societal problem that can be fixed with an outrageous satirical solution?

You could propose that as a supplement to teachers' salaries they be given young students as indentured servants.

The students could do age-appropriate work like dish washing, floor scrubbing, baby sitting, chauffeuring, laundering, and cooking from Kindergarten through 12th Grade. School officials like Superintendents and Department heads would get additional servants.

These free workers would avoid the school districts having to use tax dollars for pay raises and would ease the financial burden on teachers.

What about an approach regarding those who wish to outlaw abortion and propose that they must be required to take all the children and rear them until age 21. How about the folks who believe that all animals should be freed and not remain "prisoners" of thier owners? There are many things to poke fun at if you look at the extemists on either side of the political fence.

You could always propose that, instead of doing their own work, all students should just be trained in using the internet to get other people to do their work for them...how's that for irony?

Wow...this may be a really REALLY difficult assignment because if you use an "outrageous satirical solution" in today's climate it may be interpreted as a "warning sign".

If Jonathan Swifts had written that paper and handed it in to his teacher/prof today, he probably would be in jail.
