I have textured ceilings and I want them smooth. Is that even possible? If it is I need to know the quickest way. New drywall is not in my budget right now. Any tips would be appreciated.

do you mean popcorn with the little balls that fall off if you try to clean?? If that is the case get on a ladder and use a flat trowel and scrape them off and then use a flat paint to hide the messy fix. If it is just a type of texture that you want flat then get a bucket of mud a trowel and go for it you can make it smooth.

While lilabner is correct, they do make a sander for drywall that attaches to a vacuum and has a long handle. Try a rental store.
