A good foot scrub is some sugar (or sea salt, which is very coarse) mixed with some olive oil. Rub it into your feet during an evening shower, and rinse it off. The oil stays on, and makes your feet really nice and soft. But do it after you polish your nails! The oil will do funky things to fresh nail polish.

Otherwise, soak your feet in a warm tub, and use an orange stick to clean under the nails and push back the cuticles. (I use a toothpick, but be VERY careful!) Dry off your feet, and buff with a nail buffer to make the nail surface smooth (very inexpensive at the drug store). Paint carefully, and clean up any mistakes with a cotton swab dipped in nail polish remover. Let dry at least 15 minutes between coats. You'll probably want at least a bottom coat, a color coat and a top coat. Any decorative coats will take longer. After the top coat dries, put on a nice moisturizer (or olive oil). Put on cotton socks, and go to bed -- that will let the oil soak into your feet overnight.

Hope that helps! If you have calluses, there are medicines and pumice stones that can help with that. Give yourself a nice massage when you put the moisturizer on, too.
