If you add the right type of plant food, and water appropriately, and are also capable of maintaining a well lit source for this. Sometimes it works best if you plant in a pot first (if small be prepared to upgrade the aparatus), to minimize some of the elements that it will come in contact with in it's aparatus and when it is large enough to stand on it's own within the planting site transfer it. You can actually have it be an indoor plant for a period though so that you know it will make it through a couple of winters before you give it to the backyard.

yes, but you have to dry them first. Also, you would have to start the seed in a pot inside your home before you set it outside. After a while, you would see a sprout if you water it and give it plenty of light.
