Hey there Jess...
Okay here is a serious answer...as serious as they get.
The Universe is everything out THERE. I do mean everything. You know, the Earth, the planets, the Sun, the Moons, all of the Stars, the Meteors, the Asteroids, the Gas Clouds, the Black Holes, all of the galaxies, everything...
At this time a number of the best astronomers on deck have stated that the size of the Universe is "unknown." But, however, they do say that we can, with our present level of optical and radio telescope equipment, "see" out to a distance of 40 Billion Light Years in all directions from Earth. Beyond that distance our equipment just fails to provide us with any useable information. That is not the end of everything, we just can't see out there any further than that. Maybe some day in the near future we will be able to see out to 60 Billion Light Years and that will be super.
So, in order to gather your wits about you and end the head aches...take paper and pencil and begin to calculate the number of miles in 40 Billion Light Years. Write it down please. Use all the significant zeros, no cheating with powers of ten, etc., etc.
Now, you wish to know what is beyond that??? How could anyone possibly know? I just told you that the best possible information we could get was out to a distance of 40 Billion Light Years in all directions. That is as far as anyone knows anything about. So ansy answers you get which give you a pat phrase or a theory, well, those answers are just exactly that...theories. Theories are a dime a dozen, and you cannot put any of them into the bank.
Look at it like this...None of us have been there. None of us are going there. And, most important for now, any EMail message you sent there would take 40 Billion Years to get there and 40 Billion More Years to receive the reply. So, in my book, that is good enough to be "INFINITE." It may not be infinity by definition, but it is close enough for me. If you think about it some, you may decide the same thing.

Well, theoretically, I cannot imagine an end to something like this. I cannot see how there is some kind of "stop point", unless of course there is a force acting as a barrier. But if you are talking about a universe, I assume you mean everything that is, will, and can exist, which can be very specific as well as general. There are people who assume that based on the Earth's laws of motion, physics, etc.. We can correctly identify the rest of the universe under these theories. This is simply not true, we cannot rely on what we believe here as what is out, maybe beyond those "barriers" or even in other galaxies. The point is, have we been out there yet? No, we have not, and until then we cannot make "facts" based on Earth's functionality.

Due to Physics the universe is exapading and big but not endless. The universe is being held by 2 sources, magentism and gravity. String Theory proves that Gravity and Magentism, Weak Atom Force, and Strong Atom Force tells the story of the universe. But so far there is no soultion to this problem. The Universe is mostly dark engery and dark matter. Planets, Moons, Suns, Galaxies, Black Holes, Stars, Nebulas, Rock, and Ice are just out there. There's 6 unseen universes in our uinverse through.

This will hurt your head some more. First of all, the universe is NOT endless. It is, in theory about 30,000,000,000 light years from side to side. Now the hurting part. Beyond the limits of our universe there is NOTHING! No space, no matter, no time, nothing. There is not even a place. Outside our universe does not exist.

beyond our universe is a big great lake of cookies 'n creme ice creme, i can't wait to go
but seriously yeah i thought about the idea that our univrse is just some other component like an atom making part of something bigger, but there is string theory where there are parallel universes and such, i don't know, but what i can't comprehend is how there was a beginning to anything, time can't have a beginning because there has to have been something before that, anyways i'm goin off subject and i'm gonna go get some ice creme ;)

I know what you mean, as it hurts everyone's mind. It's way beyond any human being's comprehension. I personally believe that the universe is infinite. Only after death we will know, and even after that we may never know. I personally believe all mysteries are revealed once we pass over.
The universe is infinite I believe, as well as life on other planets too.

Probably just another universe with more galaxies...Maybe even another planet where people live together and do not sin or have wars.. It's possible.. We will find out soon enough when we are gone and God will tell us. I know you don't want religious answers but that is the only answer

Another universe. Imagine that you're in a large park (a universe) and you are walking along and discover a small path leading somewhere. You explore and walk through that pathway (black hole) and you discover that path has led you to yet another large parkway (another universe) . . .
Different neighborhoods, different continents...different planets, universes . . .

Einstein once thought that there is an ultimate universe with other universes inside it. but then again what is beyond that universe?
hmm, my head hurts too

i have never thought about that. when i try to scale it down in my mind i picture this big black box and that our universe is in it. but its hard to imagine whats on the outside of the box, if there is even an outside. and that whole time thing is WEIRD. its like time trapped in that box but is it infinite or is it counting down to the end or something? is there only so much time??
