I think you meant "pray". And no. If you have to wait until your impending death, your belief in religion is false and laughable.

People pray out of fear. I wouldn't frighten myself.

I have absolutely no doubt that should the human race believe it was on the verge of extinction or "near the end", many would prey. I hope that I personally would not prey, because even the end of the world should not excuse such behavior toward fellow beings.

Humans are not even close to extinction... At least on this planet. From what I see in the human race we will be on this planet for many hundreds of years before we have to even consider extinction a reasonable possibility. Also I don't believe in religion. I believe its either brought on by people who cant cope with the reality of life and death. So no I will not be praying to anyone/thing.

Very doubtful. Its never done any good in the past through to this point has it?
In the end it won't do any good either.

One prayer though that might be worthy of something....... (not for ourselves but for who/what's next), whatever it is that replaces human beings, that they'll at least have our good qualities & promise and lack our bad qualities & tendencies towards darkness.

Humans have had a good run, but its painfully obvious that even with all of the potential inherent, they are infact not worthy of maintaining or even being a part of this sublime prize, this planet, this creation of "man" (as a whole)doesn't deserve to survive.

I pray not for my death, but for the birth of another life. When the time comes, which will one day, I will be happy. Happy that this destructive species will finally meet its end; no longer does it threaten its homeland, no longer does it bring suffering to others, the world will be back in balance. With human extinction also comes hope; the hope that another species will rise to take its place and add life to this planet instead of taking it away.

hmmm- maybe you meant to pray. Praying is done by everybody even without the threat of extinction. Nobody needs a threat so that is not a condition of prayer.

I believe that when one sees a great tsunami 50 feet away , all one can do is hold the hand of someone you love. Praying is optional.

If you

When our end comes the time for praying or preying will have come and gone. There will no longer be "time" as we know it. Anything you have to do, do it now time is of the essence.

We are on that verge because we prey. Uncontrollably, Irresponsibly.

Let us pray that we stop this non-stop preying and allow this earth to live its own life.

well, prey as in the sense of hunting, if I'm hungry and need to, yes.

Pray, as to a higher being when I feel the end is near, yes, what can it hurt?

No. I'll be long gone by that time. On the other hand, probably if it happened during my days. But I wouldn't spend the entire time praying.
