The technical definition of a desert concerns only the amount of precipitation (ie rain or snowfall) that it receives.

Antarctica meets this criteria as it is very dry. Also, it is located at the south pole.

'Polar Desert' seems about right.

Because a desert is defined by how much rainfall it gets. And it hardly rains or snows in antartica even though there is already alot of frozen water around on the ground, so by the definition of a desert antartica is one due to such little rainfall or snow.

Because it's an area with annual precipitation less than 250 millimetres and a mean temperature during the warmest month of less than 10° C.

I kind of doubt it . If they are going to live on the south pole they sure better hope the earth got tilted on its axis by 90 degrees . And if that ever happen you better bet there would be one big world wide earthquake of a 12.0 on the Richter scale . And that will be sure to start a whole new earth after about a couple of hundred years

the "polar" part because it's cold as hell, the "desert" part because for the most part it's mostly without animals and vegetation.
