Other than being a suit in the Gundam universe and a really silly entry in urbandictioanry.com it doesn't seem to exist.

It's not a known latin word according to Tufts U either.

It might be greek, Tufts wanted to translate it:

Well the word epyon seems to be a conjugation of a Greek word for next. I have now proof since I can't read Greek. But from the fact that a quick search only shows Gundam websites and technology sites using the name Epyon. So by context, I'm guessing that epyon is some sort of conjugation of epomenos.
But in Shinto religion there seems to be a shinigami by the name of Epyon. If you watch Bleach or read Death Note, you should know what a shinigami is. If not, a shinigami is a personification of death. Like the Grim Reaper. So while not 'Devil,' it is close. So if your looking for the reason behind the name of the gundam, this would probably be the better bet.

It does mean the devil, or at least is another name for the devil, I believe it is either Greek or Latin.

Something just clicked, but it might not be "accurate." There are those inside the beltway of Washington DC who like to put togther strange names for organization or activities. The Word Eypon fits the pattern beautifully. E (e-mail or electronic) ypon (spy on .)

Example: Get an eypon on him.

Epyon is a variant of the Greek name Apollyon, which can be used as devil or Apollo, or any other type of name that Lucifer goes under.

As appears in ( www.gotquestions.org/Abaddon-Apollyon.html ) The name Abaddon or Apollyon appears in Revelation 9:11: “They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek, Apollyon.” In Hebrew, the name “Abaddon” means “place of destruction”; the Greek title “Apollyon” literally means “The Destroyer.”
