20/x = x/45

x=sqrt(20*24)

Geometric mean = sqrt(20*45)=30

You could be pedantic if you want and say it is ±30.

Let x be the geometric mean between 20 and 45
Then x/20=45/x
or,x^2=900 [by cross multiplication]
x=30
Therefore 30 is the geometric mean bet.20 and 45

This is an easy way of remembering how to calculate the geometric mean.

What is the geometric mean of numbers x and y?

geometeric mean = √(xy)

So in your case
geometeric mean = √(20*45) = 30
.

20 = 45 r^3 r^3 = 20/45 = 4/9 r = (4/9)^(1/3) 2nd term = 20 (4/9)^(1/3) 3rd term = 20 (16/81)^(1/3)
