I am 37 weeks with my second baby, and I am done! I loved every minute of it the first time, but this time, I am uncomfortable, emotional, tired, irritable, and just plain ready! What can I do short of castor oil?

Even Castor oil won't work unless you and your baby are ready. There are lots of Old Wives Tales of things you can try, but take it from a mom of 4 kids all born past their due dates (9 days, 11 days, 5 days, and 7 days), there isn't anything guaranteed to make the baby come any faster than he/she is ready. These are some of the things I tried - walking, having sex, nipple stimulation, scrubbing floors on my hands and knees, driving down bumpy roads, eating spicy foods, and doing squats. Maybe something will work for you, but nothing worked for me. I went into labor with each one at a time when I was totally not expecting it and hadn't been doing anything specifically to help start labor.

girl!!!! I am 2 weeks past due and I feel like you are talking for me. I even drank a whole thing of castor oil 2 and 1/2 weeks ago and obviously it don't work..and now i have heard all the problems that it could cause. I take a hot bath every night and am still fully sexual active. i walk everywhere because i have no car. Soooooo.......all i can say is even though you are miserable...uncomfortable....and ect.....the baby is going to come when the baby and your body decide that it is time.
Sucks.....but hey...its reality and I am dealing with it with you. Hang in there.

I wouldn't recommend castor oil, but walking is always good to move the baby down. Evening primrose oil can be used to help ripen the cervix, as can raspberry leaf tea.
Hang in there. You know the baby will be out one way or the oher in a few weeks.

hang in there. apparently, having sex can induce labor, but that won't work until baby is nearly ready. you gotta wait it out. good luck!
anyway what does castor oil have to do with it?

Walk, a lot. It does get aggrevating towards the end. Every pregnant woman goes thru this, I know I did. Take it easy when you can and walk, walk, walk.

I'd give anything to trade places with you...to be having a 2nd. Walk, clean, keep yourself busy and it will be over before you know it.
